Ficoll-Paque® PLUS and Ficoll-Paque® PREMIUM Centrifugation Media, GE Healthcare
Cell Separation Media
Sterile, ready to use reagents for in vitro isolation of lymphocytes from human peripheral blood.

  • Sterile
  • Proven record of isolating high yields of mononuclear cells
  • Cell preparations by density gradient centrifugation

Sterile, ready to use reagents used to prepare mononuclear cell preparations from peripheral blood, bone marrow, and umbilical cord blood by density gradient centrifugation. Liquid physical state. Colorless to slightly yellow. Manufactured under a Quality Management System certified to ISO 13485:2003. Ficoll-Paque® reagents are designed to prepare human mononuclear cells from peripheral blood, bone marrow, and umbilical cord blood via density gradient centrifugation. These sterile density media have established a proven record of isolating high yields of mononuclear cells. Both Ficoll-Paque® PLUS and PREMIUM media exhibit consistently low endotoxin levels (<0.12 EU/mL). A Regulatory Support File (RSF) is available for Ficoll-Paque PREMIUM products.

Ficoll-Paque PLUS is a sterile, ready-to-use density media containing Ficoll PM400, sodium diatrizoate and disodium calcium EDTA. The density has been optimized for the isolation of human lymphocytes from peripheral blood. For research use only.

Ficoll-Paque PREMIUM products are based on Ficoll-Paque PLUS (see Ficoll-Paque PLUS) which has been used for more than 30 years as a sterile density medium for the isolation of high yields of mononuclear cells from bone marrow, peripheral blood, and cord blood. All Ficoll-Paque PREMIUM products differ from Ficoll-Paque PLUS in that they are manufactured under a Quality Management System certified to ISO 13485:2003. They constitute a range of sterile, ready-to-use density media containing Ficoll PM400, sodium diatrizoate and disodium calcium EDTA in water for injection (WFI). The densities and osmolalities of the different products have been optimized for the isolation of mononuclear cells from human peripheal blood, bone marrow, and umbilical cord blood.

Ficoll-Paque PREMIUM 1.084 can be used for isolating a broad range of human mononuclear cells including those of a higher density and for separating blood cells from mice or rats.

Ficoll-Paque PREMIUM 1.073 can be used when isolating lower-density human mononuclear cells (e.g., mesenchymal stromal cells or monocytes).

Ordering information: Both Ficoll-Paque® PLUS and PREMIUM media are supplied ready to use and are stable for at least three years when stored between 4 to 30°C (39 to 86°F) and protected from light. Certificate of Analysis is available.
